History and processing
In the course of history, corals were not only used as a starting material for jewelry, but were used as a means of payment in Asia around 5000 years ago.
Nowadays, the coral is mainly used in medicine, cosmetics and the clothing industry.
It is valued not only for the pieces of jewelry made from it, but also as a talisman that protects against fear and tension and exudes a positive life energy.
The corals are formed by small polyps and therefore belong to the species of animals.
Within a short time, these produce a skeleton made of lime in the form of branches, which quickly turn into dust after the organisms die and become unusable.
It is used to preserve the species when old, dead branches are harvested and processed. This creates space for new colonies of corals.
After harvesting, the different pieces have to be sorted and grouped according to their suitability due to the different color and material properties of the precious coral.
Then the cutting takes place
